Den amerikanske forfatteren Henry David Thoreau gjorde det på 1800-tallet. Han journalførte naturopplevelsene sine og satte allerede da naturvern på agendaen. Heidi Skjerve har tonesatt utdrag fra Thoreau’s journaler, i en sjangeroverskridende sangsyklus for vokal, strykekvartett og klaver, med feltopptak fra skogen og fra den omstridte vindmølleparken på Storheia i Fosen.
Heidi Skjerve er kanskje først og fremst kjent som jazzvokalist, og har gitt ut flere album både med egne låter, jazzstandards og norske folketoner i samspill med blant andre John Pål
Inderberg, og som del av det eksperimenterende vokalensemblet Trondheim Voices.
Med seg på laget denne gangen har hun meritterte musikere fra TrondheimSolistene og Trondheim Symfoniorkester.
