Description

A common perception of those who are approaching the Bible from a historical-critical viewpoint, is that Israel's religion was not very different from the religions of the people around them. The Israelites had the same background, and were strongly influenced by it.

Even if archaeology has shown that "the Hebrew people were much like their neighbors in regard to housing, food, dress, trade etc", the lecture will demonstrate that their religion was completely different, it was unique.

The lecture will discuss the following aspects of Israel's religion compared to the religions of the people around them:

 *  Their view of God

 * Their view of magic

 * Their view of sex

 * Their view of death

 * Their view of the Sabbath

Important information: The presentation will be on Zoom Webinar, a service for seminars and other public events online, where only the speaker will appear and be heard. None of the participants will be visible. After the lecture, there will be a questions and answers session.

The talk is free of charge, and starts at 6 PM Norwegian Time (Central European Time). In order to see the talk on Zoom you will need a link that you will receive by email after registration.
