Onsdag 7. desember kjem Ytre Suløens Jass-Ensemble til Kyrkja på Slagnes for å halde ein julekonsert litt utanom det vanlege. Sjølv om kjende norske julesongar som Romjulsdraum og Det lyser i stille grender kjem til å stå på programmet, vil musikken hovudsakleg vere henta frå den amerikanske juletradisjonen, med julelåtar som det verkeleg swingar av, som Christmastime in New Orleans og Let’s have an old fashioned Christmas.
Etter 43 år som band, har Ytre Suløens Jass-Ensemble (YSJE) etablert seg som eit av norges beste trad.jazz-band, med turnéar over heile verda, blant anna ni turar til jazzens vugge - New Orleans. I tillegg til utanlandsturnéar, turnérer bandet over heile Noreg, og YSJE har besøkt alle fylker i landet. Jazzbandet har over 20 plateutgjevingar å vise til, kor den nyaste, Eternal Now, vil bli solgt FOR FYRSTE GONG på nettopp denne konserten. Forutan dei sju norske musikarane i bandet, har YSJE med seg vokalist Tricia Boutté-Langlo, som er fødd og oppvaksen i New Orelans, men som no har busett seg i Langevåg.
