Få norske musikere satte sitt preg på den europeiske jazzscenen på 1990- og 2000-tallet som det Bugge Wesseltoft gjorde med sitt populære prosjekt ”New Conception of Jazz”. Sammen med sentrale musikere som franske Erik Truffaz og Nils Petter Molvær blandet han elektroniske elementer og jazz, og gjorde med dette New Conception of Jazz til et eget begrep innen sjangeren electronic jazz. Etter 400 konserter over hele verden og stilskapende plateutgivelser som New Conception of Jazz (1996) og Moving (2001) tok bandet en pause i 2006. Ti år etter blåser Bugge Wesseltoft liv i prosjektet igjen – denne gangen med en helt ny generasjon unge musikere.
Publikum kan forvente å høre både nytt og gammelt materiale når New Conception of Jazz 2016 Edition inntar Energimølla torsdag natt. Én ting er sikkert; det blir dansbart, groovy og elektrisk!

Bugge Wesseltofts «New Conception of Jazz» resurfaces in 2016 with a new generation of jazz musicians.
Not many Norwegian musicians can say they left their mark on the European jazz scene in the 1990s and 2000s, but Bugge Wesseltoft surely did with his popular project «New Conception of Jazz» . Together with key musicians such as Erik Truffaz French and Nils Petter Molvær he mixed electronic elements with jazz. New Conception of Jazz has as a result become a concept in itself within the electronic jazz scene.
After 400 concerts worldwide and recordings by New Conception of Jazz (1996) and Moving (2001), the band took a break in 2006. Ten years after Bugge Wesseltoft now breathes new life into the project again – this time with a whole new generation of young musicians.
The audience can expect to hear both new and old material when New Conception of Jazz 2016 Edition enters the stage at EnergiMølla Thursday night. One thing is for certain; it’s danceable, groovy and electric!
