I mer enn 30 år har Børge Ousland foretatt banebrytende ekspedisjoner i Arktis og Antarktis – ekspedisjoner som tøyer grensene for det man trodde var mulig. I 1994 gjorde han historiens første soloekspedisjon til Nordpolen uten etterforsyninger, og han er den første som har krysset Antarktis alene. Sammen med Mike Horn gjennomførte Børge i 2019 en av de mest banebrytende polar-ekspedisjonene i moderne tid, over Nordpolen i mørket.
