Familien Wishbone er ingen lykkelig familie. Moren eier en bokhandel på konkursens rand, og faren blir fullstendig utslitt på jobben. Tenåringsdatteren Fay stryker på alle eksamener, og sønnen Max er så intelligent at han blir mobbet. I et velment forsøk på å styrke samholdet i familien planlegger de en festkveld på byen. Men det blir ingen helt vanlig kveld - den ender med at en ond heks forvandler hele familien til monstre ...! Nå må familien virkelig lære samhold, så de kan bryte den onde forbannelsen.
